AI in the FAME framework
This matrix starts with Formative Assessment for Michigan Educators (FAME), then asks where AI might support the work already happening in classrooms. Across five components and thirteen elements, it pairs examples with three roles: Coach for reflection, Colleague for planning and thinking together, and Clerk for organizing information.
The table on page 1 moves from instructional planning and learning targets to eliciting evidence. Examples include developing student-friendly targets, preparing questioning sequences, and organizing evidence from exit tickets. Separate columns show how each idea might look for a classroom teacher and for a leader or coach.
Page 2 turns to feedback and the decisions that follow. It includes peer-review routines, student self-assessment, adjustments to teaching, and next steps for learners. That progression matters: gathering or summarizing evidence is only useful when it informs what happens next.
Use the matrix as a conversation starter. Choose one element, identify a real need, and decide whether an AI role would help. Review the output for accuracy and bias, use approved data practices, and keep students involved in understanding and acting on evidence.
